Opsgenie is no longer sold and shuts down on April 5, 2027, so existing customers are choosing where to go next. Better Stack is a monitoring-and-incident bundle: a $29/month (yearly) responder license includes on-call scheduling, escalations, unlimited phone and SMS alerts and mobile apps, next to uptime monitoring, status pages and telemetry. It fits teams that also want to replace their monitoring. Teams that only need to replace the pager and want their alert sources to keep the Opsgenie API shape can also look at OpsPing, which accepts the Opsgenie v2 alert API at api.opsping.com from $8 per responder.

Opsgenie's end of life in brief
Atlassian stopped selling Opsgenie on June 4, 2025. On April 5, 2027, “access to Opsgenie will be shut off, the product will no longer be accessible, and any customer data in Opsgenie that has not been moved to Jira Service Management will be deleted” (Atlassian ↗). The Opsgenie REST APIs keep working until that date, and sites that migrate to Jira Service Management shut down automatically 120 days after their migration date (Atlassian Support ↗). Every date, with its source, is on our Opsgenie shutdown timeline.
What Better Stack offers
From Better Stack's pricing page ↗ (checked November 2, 2026):
- Responder license. $29 per month billed yearly, $34 monthly, covering incidents and telemetry access. On-call scheduling is included for responders, with iOS and Android apps, unlimited phone call alerts, unlimited SMS, push and email, escalations, an on-call calendar and reporting.
- Team members. Telemetry-only access is $0.
- Monitoring. 10 uptime monitors included (additional 50 for $25/month, $21 yearly), 10 heartbeats included (additional 10 for $20/month, $17 yearly), and usage-priced logs, metrics, traces, error tracking and session replay.
- Status pages. 1 included, with paid add-ons for extra pages, custom CSS, white-labeling, password protection and SSO.
- Security. Google SSO included; Azure and Okta SSO $5 per user per month; SAML SSO on Enterprise; audit logs $250 per month ($208 yearly).
The trade-off: Better Stack's per-responder price is higher than Opsgenie's listed Essentials and Standard rates, and it earns that by bundling monitoring and telemetry. If you already run Datadog, Grafana or Prometheus and only need a pager, you pay for capabilities you may not use.
Migration effort
| Path | What moves | What you still do |
|---|---|---|
| Opsgenie → Better Stack | Better Stack's docs describe building schedules, rotations, overrides and escalation policies in its UI, and bulk-importing uptime monitors by URL; they invite teams migrating from another service to email [email protected] | Recreate schedules and escalation policies, invite responders, and repoint each alert source to Better Stack's integrations |
| Opsgenie → Jira Service Management | Atlassian's automated migration moves most data and configuration on the date you choose, with 120 days of parallel Opsgenie access | Manual steps for some setups; features Atlassian lists as left behind (Atlassian ↗) |
| Any path | — | Export the alert, incident and audit history you need before April 5, 2027, run both systems in parallel, and test a firing and a resolution through every source |
Who each fits
Stay on Opsgenie (for now) if…
- You are an existing customer and need time to plan. It works until April 5, 2027, which leaves a window to run a replacement in parallel. It is not a long-term option.
Choose Better Stack if…
- You want to replace monitoring and paging together: uptime checks, heartbeats, logs and status pages from the same vendor as on-call.
- You want phone and SMS alerting included in the responder license rather than metered.
A third option for teams leaving Opsgenie: OpsPing
If what you need is paging, schedules and escalations, and your alert sources already speak the Opsgenie v2 alert API, an API-compatible pager avoids reconfiguring every integration. OpsPing (this site) is built for that move. The facts below come from our own documentation:
- Drop-in Opsgenie alert API. Change the API URL to
https://api.opsping.comand use a new OpsPing API key with the sameAuthorization: GenieKey <key>header. Create with alias deduplication works, and so do get by alias, alias:list queries, and acknowledge, close, notes, tags, assign, responders, escalate, snooze and details by alias, so Alertmanager and Grafana keep auto-resolve on. - Known gaps. Unacknowledge, unassign, reopen, unsnooze, mark-read and delete need the alert ID or tiny ID rather than the alias, there is no update-priority route, and
GET /v2/alerts/countignores the query (use/v2/alerts/counts). The full list is on the Opsgenie-compatible API page. - Unlimited push on every plan, including Free. Native apps for iPhone, Android and Apple Watch, with iOS Critical Alerts and Android Do-Not-Disturb bypass. Voice calls are the urgent fallback on paid plans; OpsPing does not use SMS.
- Importer. Users, teams, services, schedules and overrides, escalation policies, heartbeats and integrations import from Opsgenie; the dry run is free and applying it needs Team or Business. See the migration guide.
- Published pricing. Free for up to 5 responders; Team at $8 and Business at $15 per responder per month (pricing, cost calculator).
- Migration help. Async by email at [email protected], with calls by appointment.
OpsPing is narrower than Better Stack: it does no uptime probing, logs or telemetry, so you keep your existing monitors (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Uptime Kuma) and point them at OpsPing. The step-by-step plan is in How to switch from Opsgenie.

Opsgenie stopped selling on June 4, 2025 and shuts down on April 5, 2027.

Can Better Stack import my Opsgenie setup?

If you want to keep your alert sources on the Opsgenie v2 alert API, OpsPing accepts a documented subset of it at api.opsping.com.
